Production, with boundaries

A quote built around the actual work

No invented starting price. No misleading “half the US rate” comparison.

Illustrative controlled document production layers

Define the production layer

Preparation, HTML conversion, proofing, revisions, tagging assistance and submission are different deliverables. A production-only quote should not be presented as a complete retail filing package. Live filing is not included by default.

What affects effort

  • Source format and completeness: editable DOCX differs from scanned PDF.
  • Table complexity, symbols, merged cells, notes and permitted assets.
  • Required proof format, QA owner and specialist-review effort.
  • Correction allowance, change timing and number of instruction streams.
  • Reserved urgency and real reviewer availability.

What the written quote should state

Define the source-page measure, document limit, output files, included checks, one agreed correction round or other allowance, exclusions, currency, payment arrangement and source cutoff. Additional disclosure and new exhibits are new scope—not invisible extras.

Rush work

Review complete inputs and the actual production/review slot before accepting an urgent deadline. State the time zone. A premium does not manufacture capacity; scope reduction or another vendor may be safer.

Pilot first

Use a fixed, narrowly defined public/synthetic pilot fee agreed after review. Inspect the evidence and debrief actual effort before discussing recurring queue capacity.

EDGAR conversion pricing and urgent requests

Compare output layers before comparing EDGAR conversion costs. Requests for cheap EDGAR filing, a same-day 10-Q filing service or low-cost XBRL tagging need a confirmed service, reviewer, deadline and capacity—not a blanket price promise. Read the pricing and rush-scope guide.
